In 2023,
there were 19,056 cases of personal data leaks or losses
by private businesses in Japan.
This is the highest ever recorded.
One notable case:
An NTT West subsidiary temp worker illegally leaked personal data,
and even the buyer of the data was criminally punished.
In Takamatsu,
a convenience store user trying to print documents with a My Number card
accidentally received someone else’s resident certificate.
In response,
the Personal Information Protection Commission issued
1 recommendation and 395 guidance actions.
Data leaks involving My Number alone reached
2,052 cases—over 6 times more than the previous year.
A single cyberattack can compromise thousands of records.
Tighter oversight is urgently needed.

2023年には、日本国内の民間企業による個人情報の漏洩・紛失が19,056件発生しました。
これは過去最多です。
注目すべき事例として、NTT西日本傘下の派遣社員が個人情報を不正に漏洩し、その購入者までもが刑事処罰されました。
高松市では、コンビニエンスストアの利用者がマイナンバーカードで書類を印刷しようとしたところ、誤って他人の住民票を受け取ってしまいました。
これを受けて、個人情報保護委員会は勧告1件と指導395件を発出しました。
マイナンバー関連だけでも、情報漏洩は2,052件に上り、前年比6倍以上となっています。
たった1回のサイバー攻撃で、数千件もの情報が漏洩する可能性があります。
より厳格な監視が緊急に必要です。
